Singapore

The 5th of September after a smooth flight from Bali to Singapore, I was hit by a wall of hot and humid air upon landing. Welcome! I easily made my way from the airport to the city center near Chinatown, where I had booked a backpacker hostel. A tiny room for the modest sum of €80 with a shared bathroom, they’re crazy! The window wouldn’t open, blocked by the bunk bed placed in front of it. Anyway, it’s just for one night, tomorrow I’m off to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia :)

I wandered around Chinatown and found a center with many shops and air-conditioned restaurants. I took refuge there from the heat, and it was so cold inside that I had soup and a hot tea! From one extreme to the other.

While I was struggling with the soup, not knowing how to drink it, and I had no utensils to pick up the meat, and there were no napkins to clean my hands… in short, I felt like a fish out of water. My table neighbors came to my aid, asked for utensils and napkins for me, and explained how to eat that dish with my hands. They were a very friendly couple originally from Singapore, and we chatted a bit :)

After the culinary adventure, I wandered around another shopping center, which I think is called People’s Park. I believe I was the only tourist there, very folkloric, a concentration of Chinese shops where you can find everything. I also bought a needle and thread to repair my pants. This shop would have driven any seamstress, including my mother, crazy because it had everything from A to Z! Fabrics, buttons, thread, needles, machines, really everything! Well, then I went back to the hotel and waited for Giusy to arrive :)

Around 7 PM, Peppa finally arrived at our lovely abode, and of course, we immediately set off to see the city center at night, with the light show at the bay. Fascinating city, I must say, I saw too little, it definitely deserves a visit but it’s quite expensive! The next day we left by bus to Kuala Lumpur.
